The 2007 Black History Count Basie - Freddie Green Humanitarian Award

In United States, February is Black History Month. Events across the nation honor past and present African-Americans for their contributions to the arts, science, education, politics, and other fields. In February 2007, Freddie Green was honored in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
Freddie's son, Alfred, accepted the Count Basie-Freddie Green Humanitarian Award on his father's behalf. Future plans call for the Basie-Green Award to honor other African-Americans in the field of music.
