Transcription: Wee Baby Blues

From the album: The Boss Of The Blues: Joe Turner Sings Kansas City Jazz
Leader of the session: Joe Turner
LP release date: March 6, 1956
CD: Columbia CD 6327 (Original LP on Atlantic)
Tempo: 90 beats per minute

Here is a another clear-cut example of Freddie Green's unique one note voicings. The only distinct two note voicings are in measures 1 and 13. As is typical of Freddie's rhythm parts, all the notes are played on the D string, with any upper note played on the G string. And notice the unusual long (for Freddie) glissando, starting in measure 12 (beat 4) and ending in measure 13 (beat 1).

For instruction on how to play one note and two note voicings, see the "Lessons and Technique" section of this website.
